Venezuelan passport

Venezuelan passports are issued to citizens of Venezuela to travel outside of the country. Biometric passports have been issued since July 2007, with a RFID chip containing a picture and fingerprints. According to Venezuelan law, all passports (the old light blue or the old red covered, with the old country name and/or old coat of arms) are valid until the expiration date, but the light blue covered passport are not accepted for travel in the United States of America.[why?] In the future, the Venezuelan government might change the passport format to a deep blue color cover and a Mercosur inscription. This could happen only if the congress of Paraguay accepts full membership in Mercosur.

Biometric passports:

One of the conditions for abolishment of visas of the Schengen states for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the introduction of biometric passports (e-passport). Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) and Ministry of Interior in Bosnia and Herzegovina tested the system of biometric passports from July 4 to October 15, 2009. No passport is issued until automated checks with the Ministry of Interior, Registrar's Offices and other security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina is performed. 162 institutions are involved in the process of issuing biometric passports, and therefore this makes the Bosnian e-passport one of the safest passports in the world. Originally it was announced that biometric passports would be tested until the end of 2009. On July 15, 2009, the Bosnian Minister of Civil Affairs announced that Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin issuing biometric passports on October 15, 2009, when a larger amount of passports will be delivered from German producer Bundesdruckerei[1]. From December 15, 2010 holders of Bosnian passport will be able to travel visa free through all Schengen states.

Brazilian passport

The Brazilian passport is the official document for foreign travel issued by the Brazilian government, through the Brazilian Federal Police. It is unclear from the references so far whether Brazilian citizens need a current or expired passport in order to re-enter Brasil.
A new model was officially introduced in December 2006 that complies with both Mercosul and ICAO standards, but as of February 2009, the previous model, three decades old, is still being issued at some places. So, in practice there are two models.
As a rule, Brazilian passports are valid for five years from the date of issue. They cannot be renewed: a new passport must be obtained when the previous one has expired or a minimum validity period is required by the country to be visited.
However, Brazilian passports can be ordered by mail for a duration of 3 years at the Brazilian consulate that has jurisdiction over the person's residence in a foreign country. The instructions say that whether applying for a "new" passport or a "renewal", the same application is used.[1]
Brazilian citizens do not need a passport when traveling to other Mercosul countries (Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay), as well as to Bolivia, Colombia, Peru or Chile. For these countries, they may use just their domestic identification cards, issued by state governments.
